Our team recently completed a design and build package focusing on a dedicated child washroom area. When designing active spaces for young children, safety and durability are our top priorities. For this project, we installed our specialized creche cubicles, utilizing the Alsanit Kindergarten Cubicle System.
The defining feature of these creche cubicles is the patented Fingersafe hinge mechanism, manufactured exclusively by Alsanit. This innovative system completely encloses the hinge within the door frame profile, effectively removing any risk of children accidentally trapping their fingers. The gravity-based, self-closing doors operate smoothly without springs to ensure maximum safety, and the hardware is rigorously tested to withstand 200,000 cycles in high-traffic environments. The system also includes integrated emergency opening features.
To make the washrooms visually inviting, the cubicles were manufactured in bright, lively colours. The low door height provides children with a comforting sense of privacy while still allowing teachers to easily supervise them when necessary. Constructed from 12 mm High Pressure Laminate (HPL), these panels offer exceptional moisture resistance and impact durability, which you can explore in our material selection guide. All board edges are framed in aluminium profiles for increased strength. Furthermore, the doors use safe handles instead of traditional locks.
To complement the high-performance creche cubicles, we also designed and efficiently installed a bespoke low-level vanity unit. This custom fixture features a highly durable HPL top designed explicitly for wet environments, providing safe, comfortable, and age-appropriate access for young users. By integrating these specialised washroom products into a coordinated layout, we deliver practical spaces that childcare facilities can trust.
